Cataclysm in the Abyss

Phase 2: Hollow Hope

Aegis Imperatoris has won Phase 1 and now dictates the tempo of defending the Imperial worlds, and in particular Stygian Prime. Null Harmonic has completed secret circuits of a forbidden geometric energy lattice in the depths of Malik's Damnation, while the hulk itself seems to be under the control of the heroic Space Marines. Predators still lurk and Pirates still pillage the dread spaces yet to be explored. This balance of power will be short-lived, as the conflict spreads to nearby systems to include the mysterious forge world of Synford and the teeming hive world of Guytoga.

Scoring

Phase 2 scoring tracks the widening Imperial war across multiple worlds and systems, while preserving each team's early foothold as the campaign begins.

Mission Selection

Players should discuss which mission to play from the missions on this page that have not yet been played. If there is disagreement, the players roll off to decide the mission.

Primary Scoring

The primary score for Phase 2 is planetary control. Each world's score is shown as a percentage of that team's total potential there: 1 point for playing a game, plus 1 additional point for a win, measured against the total possible score based on the number of rosters on the team.

Secondary Scoring

The secondary score is decapitation. Teams build that score by destroying enemy CHARACTER units over the course of the phase.

Missions

Phase 2 expands into the defense of multiple Imperial worlds and systems, with each theatre below carrying its own missions and campaign consequences.

Front-line Warfare

Across the open belts and transit roads of Stygian Prime, the war becomes brutally simple: hold the line, break the enemy's, and force a path into their rear before they do the same to you.

Front-line Warfare is a grinding contest of pressure and counter-pressure, with commanders forced to anchor their own ground while hurling elite spearheads into the contested centre.

Those who can seize the initiative and carry the fight into hostile territory will shape the momentum of the wider defense.

At Any Price

Beneath the forge-world's smoke and warning klaxons, rival forces race toward a hidden strategic asset whose value could tip the balance of the entire campaign.

Synford's reactors, data-shrines, and sealed transit chambers become killing grounds as boarding-hardened troops fight to secure the site before it can be sabotaged, corrupted, or turned against the Imperium.

This is not a battle of restraint. It is a battle for something too important to abandon, no matter the butcher's bill.

Empty the Vaults

As war spreads through Guytoga, sacred storehouses and secured vaults are breached, stripped, or sealed shut by failing security systems that care nothing for the lives trapped inside.

For some commanders, the contents are too valuable to abandon. For others, they are bait, trophies, or simply another chance to profit while the hive tears itself apart.

Whatever the motive, both sides must seize what they can with speed, before the vaults close and the opportunity is lost.
